Human Error in the Maritime Work Domain

The aim of this paper is to suggest a quick and easy method for the collection of knowledge about human error in the maritime work domain using accident reports as empirical material. The method has three steps: 1. Text analysis 2. Accident analysis 3. Human error analysis Step 2 and 3 are based on very well known methods, techniques and taxonomies already included in the ongoing discussion about analysis of accident reports. The new contribution to this discussion is the first step, which is a formalized way of identifying relevant data in the report and to encounter for the methodological problems about the authors choice of perspective, focus etc. involved in the use of accident reports as empirical material.
